The Canadian Paramedic Memorial Foundation is a charity that has been created to build a National Paramedic Monument in Ottawa. Working in conjunction with our stakeholders - The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada, The Paramedic Association of Canada, Canada's 40,000 paramedics, and also the families of paramedics killed in the line of duty. We aim to complete this project in 3 to 5 years.
This monument will showcase to the people of Canada the passion and dedication of all past, present and future paramedics, and military medics. It will also highlight their unique and vital role in health and public safety.
Canadian Paramedics cross vast distances by many means and work in all environments to preserve life and ensure appropriate, and timely access to healthcare. Tragically, the diverse and challenging situations to which they respond sometimes results in paramedics paying the ultimate price. Since 1980, at least 38 paramedics have lost their lives providing care to others.
The National Paramedic Monument will display the names of, and be a special place to honour our fallen colleagues who have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. This site will be a lasting tribute ensuring that their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
This Monument will be educational for the public, and a place of reflection for those who have dedicated their lives and careers to protecting the health and safety of all Canadians. It will be a place of pride and remembrance for families and friends of our fallen members. We encourage you to partner with us, and counting on your support in our mission.
