January 14, 2015

A Message from CATAAlliance: we are sharing an update from the desk of Katherine Thompson, VP at CATA and cyber security lead (kthompson@cata.ca)

Good afternoon;
As a result of the forum survey and consultation with many of you, we have established the 2015 Mandate for the proposed CATA Cyber Council. The objectives outlined in the mandate below will be further enhanced through the consultation of the Leadership Council.

I want to emphasize that I have ensured that the objectives are clearly Outlined, Actionable, Accountable and include Criteria for Success. These will be referred to, reviewed and assessed at the end of Year One.

My ask of you is the commitment of your organization, some of your time and most of all, your voice and expertise. My role is to ensure that the mandate is met and an ROI is realized through the commitment you make.

Legislation:  Recently, the Obama administration announced new cyber security protections that will change the ways in which attacks are managed, reported and communicated. CATA will be taking the lead in Canada on current legislation along with recommendations for the future. The role of the council will be to lead this initiative including a proposed position paper and lobbying efforts done at both a provincial and federal level. If you would like to be a part of these discussion, please feel free to contact me directly to learn more.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and I look forward to working with you in 2015.
