The Celestica Award for Technology Commercialization to be given at CATAAlliance’s Innovation Awards Gala
OTTAWA, February 12. 2010 - CATAAlliance, Canada's largest high technology association announced today the creation of a new Technology Commercialization Award recognizing excellence in generating and developing new technologies and products with the use of advanced manufacturing and innovative electronics. The Award will be named after one of world’s leading innovative global supply chain solutions companies, Celestica.
The new Award will be presented to a Canadian organization for an outstanding technology engineering development which has resulted in the production of a world-class product incorporating advanced manufacturing and innovative electronics in the product or family of products. The product will have proven itself in operation and its design and market success will have enhanced Canada's international reputation for innovation and excellence.
Finalists and award recipients will be chosen by a selection committee comprising experts drawn from the CATAAlliance Governing Council and Celestica.
According to CATAAlliance President, John Reid, "Celestica continues to demonstrate its dedication to technology excellence and leadership through its support of recognition programs, research and advocacy. Awards and related programs create role models and also help to reinforce the power of new technologies in stimulating Canada's business growth and productivity. They are an important part of building Canada's Innovation Nation. We're proud to announce that the Technology Commercialization Award will be named in Celestica’s honour and congratulate them on their corporate citizenship."
"Global business success requires future-oriented thinking," said Mike Andrade, Senior Vice President and General Manager, the Americas, Celestica "It also requires innovative capabilities, risk taking and entrepreneurship. As a Canadian flagship enterprise, Celestica wants to work in partnership with other players in the sector to establish a Centre of Excellence where research and development into the next generation of advanced electronics products and processes can be developed; where smaller Canadian companies can collaborate to bring their concepts to reality; where established technology companies can work together to improve their products and processes; and where the electronics leaders of tomorrow can learn their skills in a practical, real world environment. And every year, we wish to recognize the best of the best through the new CATA Award.”
The new Award for Technology Commercialization will be presented on June 10th in Ottawa at the CATAAlliance's Annual Innovation Awards Gala Dinner, a 25 year tradition of recognizing outstanding technological innovation and corporate leadership in expanding the frontiers of Canada's advanced technology industries. CTV Host, Paul Brent will be returning as the guest MC and moderator of a stellar CEO Panel of High Tech business leaders focusing on the keys to world class success.
