Ottawa, April 4, 2014 - The Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance) is pleased to announce that the Wesley Clover Foundation has thrown its support behind CATA's mobile health initiatives and we recognize the Foundation as our newest health care sponsor.
Sir Terence Matthews is the founder and Chairman of Wesley Clover International, an investment vehicle and holding company. Mr. Matthews has either founded or funded over 100 companies since 1972 including Newbridge Networks, a company he founded in 1986 and which became a leader in the worldwide data networking industry.
Mr Matthews said, “The best way to describe healthcare is with one word, “disruption.”
He added, “Smart healthcare solutions will be founded on digitization, record storage, data security and interoperability with the overriding goal of achieving better patient care for less money spent. Remote and home health care, will see the creation of virtual hospital beds that digitally link the patient to technologies and practitioners.”
CATA CEO, John Reid, concluded, “ Mobility technologies, broadband, big data and cloud computing are all foundational technology change agents. It's when these changes occur that all companies, large and small, can take those foundational technologies and look at how they will transform vertical industries such as healthcare.”
