Sole-sourcing a deal to redevelop Lansdowne Park could undermine efforts to relax "Buy American" provisions attached to the U.S. stimulus package, two of Ottawa's business leaders said Monday.
"We are very concerned about retaliatory measures that could close markets to high-tech exports," said John Reid, president of the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance, at a press conference hosted by Ottawa city councillor Clive Doucet.
"We want to send messages to our export partners that we have great technology, that we play fair and are open in Canada and we too want to have an equal opportunity for those large procurements happening globally."
