- We are pleased to announce that CanadianManufacturing.com, an industrial news hub owned by Business Information Group (BIG), has joined the growing ranks of CATA supporters of the 2011 study on Effective Commercialization of Innovations in Canada and the Innovation Nation Campaign.
The study is starting with a survey of thousands of small, medium and large size enterprises addressing questions pertaining to the commercialization of new (or improved) products and services. In particular, the study addresses the strategies, the financial approaches and the cooperative arrangements pursued to achieve effective commercialization, in an effort to determine the factors for success as well as the typical problems and obstacles encountered. Attention is also paid to the federal, provincial or municipal programs that were used and were most effective in aiding commercialization, the relevant intellectual property issues and the roles played by lead customers and/or "anchor" companies in achieving successful commercialization of innovations.
"From research to prototyping to marketing, our readers face a host of obstacles to commercializing new products and services," said Lisa Wichmann, Editorial Director of CanadianManufacturing.com. "This study will provide valuable comparisons, resources and ideas to help businesses across all industries drive revenue, diversify into new markets and position for growth."
"We are delighted that CanadianManufacturing.com and BIG - Canada's largest publisher of specialized business magazines, directories and databases - has joined our organization and our survey," said John Reid, President of CATA. "BIG's vast readership and its effectiveness in helping businesses target appropriate market opportunities will catalyze the collection of truly representative views of Canadian industry and enable CATA and its study partners to underline the significant issues affecting the commercialization of innovations by Canadian companies."
The survey results will help Canadian industry and government policy executives to benchmark their organizations' success in the commercialization of innovation and to develop better practices and programs for ensuring competitiveness on a global scale.
