John Menard

Detective (Intelligence Technological Crime Unit), Toronto Police Service

Detective John Menard joined the Toronto Police Service in 1998 and has spent the majority of his service dedicated to crimes involving technology. In 2003 he joined the Child Exploitation Section and became one of the first online undercover officers for the Toronto Police Service. Detective Menard has partnered with numerous international law enforcement agencies in the global coordinated investigation into the distribution of child pornography. He became an expert in the field of internet facilitated crimes against children and was trained as a certified computer forensic examiner. In 2007 Detective Menard transferred to the Intelligence Services Technological Crime Unit and worked three years as an expert in computer facilitated crimes and digital forensics. Promoted to Sergeant in 2010, Detective Menard returned to the Technological Crime Unit as the supervisor in charge of the Toronto Police Service’s computer forensic lab. Detective Menard has been declared an expert in the field of computer forensics including networks, data analysis, cell phone extractions, digital media, and computer facilitated crime.
