Mr. Philippe Collard joined eNGENUITY Technologies in 1994 as VP, Product Marketing. In January 1996, he took over eNGENUITY Technologies' newly created Simulation Software Division as VP/General Manager. He became the company's Chief Operating Officer in January 1997 and its President and Chief Executive Officer in June 1997. When he took over the leadership of eNGENUITY Technologies, the company had 55 employees, had accumulated several millions dollars of losses over the previous 3 years, had stagnant revenue of $7M, no sales force and the image of a company stuck in a niche market with a niche product. Under his leadership, the company grew, internally and via acquisitions, to 160 employees and to an annualized revenue base of over $20M. The company also diversified its product line and now operates in many vertical markets. It became a publicly traded company just 30 months after Mr. Collard took over. This process involved a variety of challenges ranging from completely re-building the sales and marketing department to dealing with sharp decline in spending in what was, until recently, its core market, as well as addressing the company image problem both in its customer base and in its home base. All of this took vision, focus, resilience and also a willingness to take calculated risks. Today, the company is a leader in its field, has a clear value proposition for its customers, is well known for its commitment to deliver quality products and solutions, and is a dynamic and well regarded high-technology leader in Canada. It has more than 500 customers in 29 different countries in Europe, Asia and North America. A very active member of Quebec high-tech industry, Mr. Collard also mentors young entrepreneurs and serves on the Board of Directors as well as an advisor to various technology-related companies and organizations, including the Fonds Régional de Solidarité de l'Ile de Montréal (FRSIM). Prior to joined eNGENUITY Technologies, Mr. Collard worked in various senior marketing positions for several software companies in California. He also worked at the California Space Institute (San Diego) where he did computer research work for NASA, the US Air Force and the US Navy. He also worked for the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) in the Biophysics Division and for the French Atomic Energy Agency (Paris/France) at the beginning of his career. Mr. Collard holds a diploma from France's National Electronic Engineering School, a master degree in automation and control theory, and a B.Sc. in physics and chemistry. |
