Mia Wedgbury, co-founder of High Road Communications and general manager of the Toronto office, has more than 10 years of agency experience providing strategic counsel, corporate communications and investor media relations to a wide range of technology and telecommunications clients. Recognizing the need for high tech companies to establish their presence in new markets, Mia co-founded High Road Communications, the first public relations firm in Canada dedicated to the technology industry. She has strong expertise in the business-to-business, telecom and consumer markets, working with a number of leading North American high tech companies including NEC Technologies, Microsoft Canada, Avaya, Open Text Corporation, Sierra Wireless, NexInnovations and AOL Canada. Working with emerging leaders in both the corporate and start-up arenas, Mia has directed global brand positioning programs, managed international product launches, and developed international strategic communications programs. Prior to establishing High Road Communications, Mia was a senior executive at an international public relations firm where she led the national communications program for Microsoft Canada, managing the launch of Windows 95, MSN and two media tours for Bill Gates. In previous positions, Mia has developed and executed public relations programs for IBM Canada, Xerox, Silicon Graphics, Bell ExpressVU and Nortel Networks. Mia serves as a director on the Board of Fleishman-Hillard Global Tech. She earned an Honours BA in Political Science from Queen’s University and a post-graduate certificate in public relations from Humber College. Mia is also a member of the International Association of Business Communicators. |
