The Ericsson Award for Mobility Technology to be given at CATAAlliance’s Innovation Awards Gala

OTTAWA, February 10, 2010 - CATAAlliance, Canada's largest high technology association announced that nominations are now open for the Outstanding Product Achievement Award recognizing excellence in the Content and Applications Mobility Industry. The Award is named after one of world’s leading telecommunications firms, Ericsson.

The Award will be presented to a Canadian organization for an outstanding technology engineering development which has resulted in the production of a world-class Mobility product or family of products. The product will have proven itself in operation and its design and market success will have enhanced Canada's international reputation for innovation and excellence.

Mobile devices are the most widely adopted communications technology in history. There are now more mobile devices in use than PCs, landline phones, internet users, and daily newspaper readers -- put together.

Finalists and award recipients will be chosen by a selection committee comprising experts drawn from the CATAAlliance Governing Council and Ericsson Canada.

According to CATAAlliance President, John Reid, "Ericsson continues to demonstrate its dedication to technology excellence and leadership through its support of recognition programs, research and advocacy. Awards and related programs create role models and also help to reinforce the power of new technologies in stimulating Canada's business growth and productivity. They are an important part of building Canada's Innovation Nation. We're proud to announce that the Mobility Technology Award will be named in Ericsson’s honour and congratulate them on their corporate citizenship."

The Ericsson Award for Mobility Technology will be presented on May 19^th, 2010 in Ottawa at the CATAAlliance's Annual Innovation Awards Gala Dinner, a 25 year tradition of recognizing outstanding technological innovation and corporate leadership in expanding the frontiers of Canada's advanced technology industries. Appropriately, this year's theme is "The Future is Mobile!"
