Toronto, ON - The CATA Cyber recently announced their 2017 mandate targeting three key areas of focus for the Canadian cyber security industry. They are as follows:
Over the past few months, we have seen a significant increase in industry marketing efforts from other countries and cities. These groups, looking to attract business relocation and investment, have built their brand proposition around items such as a skilled labor force, access to investment capital, cutting edge technologies and infrastructure, and a thriving climate for innovation and entrepreneurial growth.
With the recent government commitment of funding to help build out Canada's innovation landscape, the CATA Cyber Council believes that the Canadian cyber security industry has much to gain from developing a strategy to help foster innovation, expertise and entrepreneurial success.
"It is important that Canada be looked at as one of the most secure places in the world to do business. That is why it is important that government, academia and private business work together to face this challenge, not only to attract business to Canada, innovate new Cyber technologies but to also help secure those businesses in Canada today to achieve success"
"Canada has all of the ingredients to become an international leader in the area of cybersecurity. With the right focus, investment and direction, Canada can lead the way in this emerging area that will be one of the fastest growing industries for years to come."
Who? Public and Private sector leaders including industry, academia, government, ICT, banking and finance
What? (3) regional sessions is being proposed to bring together leaders to discuss the
current landscape for industry innovation, investment, access to skilled resources, educational and training programs, taxation and government incentives.
Why? It is belief of the CATA Cyber Council and its supporters that public-private sector collaboration will be needed to define the areas of growth and opportunity for the Canadian cyber security industry. Our objective is to better define what is being done in the provinces and regions across Canada to incubate cyber security success and what needs to be done to ensure that Canadian innovation continues to grow, prosper and remain in Canada.
When? Q1 2018
