Tony Ventura
Manager, Infrastructure and Datacenter Operations, Peel Regional Police

Tony is currently the Manager - Infrastructure and Datacenter Operations at Peel Regional Police. Peel Regional Police is the 3rd largest municipal police service in Canada and is comprised of 2,015 uniform and 840 civilian members. Peel Region's policing jurisdiction encompasses the cities of Mississauga and Brampton with a combined population of approximately 1.4 million citizens. In addition, Peel Regional Police also provides policing services to Lester B. Pearson International Airport which sees 44 million travellers annually.

Tony manages a staff of 26 from the total IT complement of 85.

Tony has worked in policing for over 24 years and held various IT positions throughout his career ranging from Desktop Support Technician, Supervisor of Project Management and Manager of Business Solutions. His career has been equally spilt between Toronto Police Service and Peel Regional Police Service.

In the last 6 years, Tony has been delivered business transformation projects including Electronic Disclosure to Provincial Courts; a custom developed Prisoner Management Application to track prisoner movements, feedings, medications etc.; A Use of Force Tracking system (to meet Provincial reporting requirements) and a Confidential Informant Management System to manage police sources. Some of these projects have been shared with other neighbouring police services as no charge to help other policing partners.

Tony's current accountabilities include the day-to-day operation of the datacenters, the communication infrastructure (wired and wireless network, VoIP and analogue phones and PBX) including 911 phone services and voice logging and recording. Tony is focused on the value proposition of cloud technologies and managing proof of concepts for opportunities to leverage the elasticity, scale and potential cost savings of cloud based solutions.

Tony holds a College Diploma from Humber College in Police Foundations, a Baccalaureate of Applied Arts in Justice Studies from the University of Guelph and a Master of Arts from the University of Guelph. He also holds a number of professional certifications including ITIL Expert, Certified Municipal Manager - level 3 + police professional (CMMIII).
