The Gowlings' Clean Tech Award is presented to a Canadian organization for an outstanding technology engineering development that has resulted in the production of a world-class Clean Tech product or family of products. The product will have proven itself in operation and its design and market success will have enhanced Canada's international reputation for innovation and excellence.
Clean technology includes wind power, solar power, biomass, hydropower, biofuels, information technology, electric motors, lighting, and many other applications that are now more energy efficient. It is a means to create electricity and fuels with a smaller environmental footprint. Finalists and award recipients will be chosen by a selection committee comprising experts drawn from Sustainable Development Canada, the Ottawa Clean Tech Cluster, the Deloitte Fast 50, CATAAlliance and Gowlings.
The 2008 winner was Nexterra Energy Corp. (Nexterra). The Award was presented by Andrew Foti, Partner, Gowlings.
