First Responder Vendor Outreach Forum--Please Complete the Survey
April 25, 2008

CATAAlliance, together with the Canadian Police Research Centre (CPRC) are launching the pilot of a national series of Vendor Outreach Forum (VOF) consultations at the Metro Toronto Convention Cetre in Toronto on October 8 - 9. The Forum will bring Canadian ICT companies together with Canada’s First Responders in order to help shape the future direction of industry R&D efforts and help lay the foundation for a technology roadmap for First Responders.

“This Forum will serve as a national educational vehicle that will foster a greater level of understanding of First Responders information technology needs among other public safety and security groups and Canadian IT solution providers,” says Inspector Lance Valcour of the Ottawa Police Service and Program Manager for the Canadian Interoperability Technology Interest Group. “Historically, vendors have built what they think we need, and this Forum will allow us to instead tell them what we really need by sharing our interoperability and technology challenges and explaining how to best do business with us.”

The VOF will allow leading Canadian ICT providers and solution consultants to meet with key influencers on policing and public safety science and technology for an interactive forum of information sharing, discussion, and networking. A limited number of vendors will also have an opportunity to engage in exclusive, one-on-one in boardroom sessions promoting their product and solutions to First Responders and other public safety and security government stakeholders.

++ Action Item:  Please take 3 – 5 minutes to complete this mini survey before May 16. The survey will explain the VOF concept in greater detail and allow us make the event most relevant to your interests and needs.
