CATA Launches and the Summer Innovation Programming
July 4, 2013

Ottawa, Canada, July 4, 2013 - CATA, Canada’s largest technology association, announces a strategic partnership with AcceleratorU, Canada’s first online Innovation & Venture Exchange University.

Canada is no longer one of the top 10 innovation countries due to our declining educational funding, reduced # of patents being filed, scarcity of investment capital to fuel emerging growth, reduced numbers of companies going public and sustaining growth globally, and declining expertise in innovation execution.

In Canada, there is no more ground to lose anymore. We are in a crisis and we cannot fall anymore in global innovation rankings, says John Reid, CEO of CATA. To help close the innovation gap we must think outside the box. The current practices and processes for agile learning are not working anymore.

AccelertorU, co-founded by innovation and entrepreneurial market industry leaders Simon Brightman and Dr. Cindy Gordon, is striving to close the gap by bringing flexible, actionable learning that offer short bites, mid bites and longer bites that allow people to take real action. “We know adults learn best in an as to need basis, so getting quality execution driven content into the hands of practitioners is critical. Consulting is being commoditized, and will continue to be as more knowledge becomes productized into consumables at the point of need in the right bite size. Our vision is to create the first global innovation center where knowledge is created and accessible by everyone seamlessly. A smart way to change the world.

As part of its summer programming, AcceleratorU, CATAAlliance, CanWIT along with IBM and IT World Canada, and Helix Commerce International Inc. have launched the Summer of Innovation challenge. This programming includes innovation programs such as a great speaker series (lunch as well as global online streaming) and 100% online venture courses and programs to help transform ideas to reality – this summer!
