CanWIT Advisory Council Nomination Committee Update - Finalizing Member List
August 13, 2012

The Nominating Committee for the new Canadian Women in Technology Advisory Council (CAC) continues to work hard today as they finalize the members of this important governing body. The Nominating Committee, having taken additional time, is in the process of confirming the members of the CAC to ensure that the council consists of members who could address the portfolios required with complementary skill-sets, varied regional representation, as well as representation from start-ups, academic, non-for-profit, and corporate sectors.

“We have been reviewing CVs of remarkable women working in today's advanced technology industries to participate in this council,” says Dr. Cindy Gordon, CEO of Helix Commerce International Inc., Co-Founder of SalesChoice, Vice Chair, i-CANADA, Chair InvestCrowdFund Canada, Former Chair, CanWIT, and CAC Nominating Committee Member. “These women are creating jobs, contributing to the well being of their communities, leading in advancing innovations and new ideas and making a difference to the lives of the people around them.”

An official announcement of the CAC members will be posted on both the CATA and CanWIT websites once all members have been notified.

"It has been challenging to select members of the council with such an overwhelming amount of excellent candidates. CanWIT’s Executive Management team would like to thank members of the CAC Nominating Committee for donating their valueable time to carefully review all applicants and for assisting in the selection of CAC members.  The Advisory Council will provide guidance and advice in relation to the implementation and operation of CanWIT's mandate to support women in Canada's technology sector. The extensive knowledge and experience of each member makes them an invaluable resource and a great addition to the CAC.” says Dr. Catherine Aczel Boivie, CEO and Chair, CanWIT.  “We look forward to and value the new Council’s guidance of CanWIT as it pursues its expanded mandate and mission.”
